Live transcript
Words show up as people talk, grouped by speaker, so you don't have to take notes while they're talking.
ON MIC · FREE FOR MAC
Onmic records your calls and interviews and writes the transcript while people talk. It all stays on your Mac.
ON MIC recording you and the call
HOW IT WORKS
The first time you open it, it downloads two speech models, about 800 MB. The first time you write notes, it downloads a 2.7 GB notes model. After that it works offline.
It's 28 MB and notarized by Apple, so it opens like any other app. If Safari asks about downloads, click Allow.
macOS asks twice. The second one, meeting audio, is how Onmic hears the people on the other end of a Zoom, Meet or Teams call.
Two meters show you and the call. If their side goes quiet while you're talking, Onmic warns you in the window and the menu bar.
FEATURES
Words show up as people talk, grouped by speaker, so you don't have to take notes while they're talking.
Your voice and theirs, on separate tracks. Works with Zoom, Meet, Teams and anything else that plays sound.
Rename a speaker once and every line updates. If it mishears a word, you can fix it, and the original is kept.
Find the quote you half remember, across every interview you've recorded. Click the line to hear it.
Onmic writes a summary, decisions and to‑dos on your Mac. Each point quotes the transcript, so you can check where it came from.
Save any transcript as a Markdown file.
PRIVACY
The transcript is made on your Mac and saved on your Mac. There's no account and no server, so nobody else hears your interviews.
MODELS
The first time you open Onmic, it downloads two speech models from NVIDIA, about 800 MB together. The first time you write notes, it downloads one more, about 2.7 GB. They all run on your Mac's GPU, and nothing gets sent back.
Nemotron Speech Streaming 0.6B
Writes the live transcript. It's NVIDIA's streaming speech model, so words show up while people are still talking.
NVIDIA Open Model License ↗Nemotron 3 Diarization
Works out who's speaking, so each line gets labeled Speaker 1, Speaker 2 and so on until you rename them.
NVIDIA Open Model License (OpenMDW 1.1) ↗NeMo-Speech.cpp 0.2.0
The program that runs both speech models on your Mac. It ships inside Onmic, so there's nothing else to install.
Apache 2.0 ↗Qwen3.5 4B
Writes the summary, decisions and to‑dos. It downloads the first time you select Write notes. Onmic leaves out any point whose quote it can't find in the transcript.
Apache 2.0 ↗llama.cpp
Runs the notes model on your Mac. It ships inside Onmic too.
MIT ↗CHECKLIST
Play it back. You should hear both sides and see both meters move.
Ask first. It's polite, and in many places it's the law.
Onmic records the call directly, so your mic doesn't have to pick up your speakers. No echo.
FAQ
Yes, and anything else that plays sound on your Mac. It needs macOS 15 or later and the Screen & System Audio Recording permission. Onmic saves audio only, never your screen.
Yes. There's no account to make and nothing to pay for.
Into Onmic's folder on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded. A meeting you delete waits 30 days in Recently deleted, then it's erased.
It opens and records, but transcripts would take longer than the meeting itself, so Intel Macs aren't supported yet. You need an M1 or newer.
On clear English audio it gets most words right. Names and jargon are the usual misses, and you can fix any word while the original stays underneath. Onmic transcribes English for now.
Quit Onmic and drag it from Applications to the Trash. To remove your recordings and the speech and notes models as well, delete the OpenMeeting folder (Onmic's earlier name) in ~/Library/Application Support.

This looks like an Intel Mac. Onmic records on it, but transcripts would be far too slow. You need an M1 or newer.
